sisifo Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Hello to all lovers tosogu, I'm starting to ride in this wonderful art and I would like to please someone recommend me where I can start studying this wonderful art, theoretically (if you know somewhere in Spanish would be great) .. .puesto I intend to go about doing a small collection of pieces. I know it's very complex, also would like to share with you my first Tsuba to know your opinion ... Many thanks friends! Quote
jlawson Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Ouch. I would say you are not starting off well as this appears to be a modern reproduction. I would take a step back possibly and do a little research before you continue buying. Some places that I would recommend for genuine Tosogu - www.nihonto.com, www.nihonto.us, http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com Sorry don't know anywhere in Spain that sells nihonto. Quote
sisifo Posted September 23, 2015 Author Report Posted September 23, 2015 Hi jlawson , thanks for your recommends... It is strange because eBay seller has over 5000 positive feedback and 0 negative. the age should be between 1800-1849, Do you think I should ask for a claim? I leave the link to the store where I bought it. http://www.ebay.es/itm/221839204293?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Could anyone else to review? Thanks you very much Quote

Stephen Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Been called out on my Zen Gallery statement, might be his photos but i see new or repos with a few real items thrown in... Lord knows ive been wrong before... you can make your own call http://www.ebay.com/sch/zen-gallery/m.html?item=221839204293&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 1 Quote
Ford Hallam Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 http://www.ebay.com/itm/8884-Japanese-Samurai-Edo-Antique-Ryu-zu-Excellent-Signed-Tsuba-/221893906823?hash=item33a9e85187 I'll back Stephen. This is being offered by Zen Gallery. If they don't know it's a cast copy then they're a danger to themselves never mind your wallet. Look inside the nakago-ana and the ryo-hitsu. Far too many dodgy loooking pieces in their inventory for them to recommended here. 1 Quote

Jean Posted September 24, 2015 Report Posted September 24, 2015 Eloy, Thanks for your swift action. If you have any problem, just send me PM in Spanish, I can read/write/speak it. Quote
Ford Hallam Posted September 24, 2015 Report Posted September 24, 2015 Hi Eloy I'm afraid that the item you bought is a fake. It's a modern piece, cast brass probably, and doesn't really properly resemble any authentic Edo period school that I can think of. Sorry. 1 Quote
