shazam78 Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 Hi I am new to the site, but I have always found swords to be cool and wanted to start collecting them. I recently just purchased my first sword. I believe this to be a military sword. I have taken several photos of the sword. The tang is marked on one side as you see in the pictures. And the other side still has some paint left on it, you can see on the metal where the paint was. If anyone could help me to identify this sword and a approx value I would really appreciate it. I hope I did not over pay for it, but if I did I guess it will be a learning experience for me. I added my photobucket link below, As I did not want to overload the post with pictures. If you need any additional information or pictures please let me know. Thanks Russ http://s258.photobucket.com/user/shazam78/library/Japanese%20Sword?sort=3&page=1 Quote
hxv Posted November 30, 2014 Report Posted November 30, 2014 Greetings, Please sign all of your posts. It's a rule here on NMB. Your sword is a Japanese Naval Officer's sword, called kaigunto. It's below average in both quality and condition and has a missing part. As for value, its' probably in the range $600-$1000. Regards, Hoanh Quote
