Davidarmy Posted October 1, 2014 Author Report Posted October 1, 2014 Thanks for the information, I thought that he signed with both Nobuhira and Nobuyoshi. I think I got confused for a second....Again thanks. SFC David W. Easley Quote
Stephen Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 I think his early work was, did you search the board, I had a nice wrte up on him some time back Quote
cabowen Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 maybe his early work was, but this is a Heisei dated blade, which would not be early work... Quote
k morita Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 Hi, The signature of your Tanto says "Nobuyoshi" 信吉 Nobuyoshi was a pupil of Hokke Saburo NOBUFUSA. Lived in Iwate prefecture. Good smith. http://homepage3.nifty.com/tatara/tousyou.htm Quote
Tcat Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 I got excited when I first saw that listing too.. but different mei writing of "Nobuyoshi". Quote
Gabriel L Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Alex, the signature is the same as listed in Morita-san's link… not sure what you mean? Mei "handwriting" is the same too, see http://www.samuraisword.com/nihontodisp ... /index.htm Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 For those of us who did not know Keith Austin, here is a video by Paul Martin on him : And an article : http://www.ncjsc.org/article_keith_austin.htm KM Quote
Tcat Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Alex, the signature is the same as listed in Morita-san's link… not sure what you mean? Mei "handwriting" is the same too, see http://www.samuraisword.com/nihontodisp ... /index.htm Perhaps I should have been clearer, I was referring to what Chris said - Not Keith Austin. When I first saw this ebay listing for a Nobuyoshi I immediately thought "could this be a Keith Austin blade?" but on inspection of the mei saw that it was a different smith by the same name, as per the link you referenced. It is a very nice blade but I was hoping to see one by the blue eyed sword smith. Quote
