Fantasy buy

There are a few of us on the board who just don't have the pockets to buy that larger than bank buy, we drive Chevy PU but still covet, that luxury car going down the road or in show room.

I droll over a lot of swords on the net, but this one does something for me, may just be the look but really love the look and the hada blows me away, Swords more important? Yes , but one this speaks to me.

feel free to comment then post your fantasy buy.

I can easily see why that one :)

Just look at that hada...wow.

I am very partial to that deep wet liquid look on a sword in top polish. Photos make a huge difference, so I admot to having lusted after quite a few on Darcy's site. But what really does it for me is a nice katana with naginata hi..probably the Kogarasu Maru shape.

No pics right now, but will try and hunt some down. I am not biased about age, so even Shinshinto are in my top list.

Well Stephen, having had a while to think about it, i would go with a Shinsakuto, by a top Mukansa smith. Long nagasa, deep sori, O-kissaki, wide motahaba/sakihaba, Kataochi gunome hamon, exceptional horimono, and with more hataraki than you can shake a stick at. Kept it brief (would hope the smith could cope with the Utsuri requirements ;) ). Just to add, if anyone knows a non-Mukansa smith who can do it for $3000, i might go with it. :D

Forgot the koshirae, a modern tensho style with dark solid shakudo fittings to replicate the black lacquer of the past, maybe a touch of solid gold in there somewhere for a bit of contrast, a job for Ford.

I've been lusting after this one for years... I just wish the pictures were a bit better.

And after seeing the samurai armor collection at the Kimbell last Sunday I've fallen in love with this Myochin kabuto.
