Darcy Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Working on stuff and have some nice photos to share. Soshu Yukimitsu in Shintogo style. You can see the Awataguchi influence and also the departure into something new in the hamon. Ji nie everywhere are like a kaleidoscope. Very rare Osafune Nagashige, the first Soden Bizen smith. One of 8 daito attributed to him and one of three in Soshu style. He's important as with modern dating Kanemitsu and Chogi have been moved out of contention as direct students of Masamune. Nagashige has been ruled in by Dr. Honma. He made a dated tanto in 1334 which is in Soshu style and was the tanto Honami Kotoku carried with him and this is the pivotal piece as it is the earliest dated Soden Bizen work and concurrent with Masamune. It places Nagashige as founder of this sub-tradition and probably a direct student of Masamune. He is the older brother of Chogi. It is 79cm too. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Great photos, Darcy! Thanks for sharing. Ken Quote
Fuuten Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Wow, awesome! Thank you for sharing. I've been keeping tabs on your website (although i don't ever be able to afford one of those;). Would it be possible to get the first photo in 2550x1440 resolution for a background? Quote

Lingonberry Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 Silly question: Would you ever be willing to sell life-sized posters of some of your swords/photos? Quote
Darcy Posted August 16, 2014 Author Report Posted August 16, 2014 If there is a site that will let me slam together some stuff with minimal effort then maybe it is something to do. Basically there is next to no market for anything like this because there are so few of us and then of them, only a small portion of people want to buy anything like this. So has to be done on hobby time like with my books. Quote
Fuuten Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 Instead of posters, what is possible with just the digital images; is to have them printed on canvas. I have a Hubble print on canvas which really surprised me with the quality, though swords are all together different, perhaps it'll also look good:) Quote
Darcy Posted August 16, 2014 Author Report Posted August 16, 2014 Well I slammed some crap together on cafepress. No guarantee about quality. They don't give a lot of intelligent options for placing the images, landscape or portrait they seem to want to always put it in the position of greatest waste of space. http://www.cafepress.com/nihontoca Quote
Lingonberry Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 Thank you Darcy! Those posters will probably be the closest thing I will ever get to owning a real Ichimonji! Quote
