flemming7x64 Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Hello everyone, can anybody tell something about this wakizashi blade, mounted in WW II "dress", just aquired. I believe the blade is much older. However I cannot remove tsuka, which seems to be stuck(will do so when I figure out the most safe way to do so). Kanji is written on the bladeside top. Anyone who´s got ANY suggestions to what we are dealing with? Lots of thanks and apreciation, Flemming Quote
Geraint Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Sorry Flemming but just to be clear a Chinese fake rather than any sort of Chinese sword. Have a look at the links page and check out some genuine gunto mounted swords for comparison. This one for example, http://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2012/ ... hirae1.jpg all the best Quote
Brian Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Bad fake...exhibiting just about all of the fake indicators. Sorry, but this one is not even close. Research, books, study....then purchase. Hope it didn't set you back much. Brian Quote
Kai-Gunto Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Dont thinks its chinese , but india or parkistan. Quote
Geraint Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Should we go to shinsa on this one? :D Quote
flemming7x64 Posted April 30, 2014 Author Report Posted April 30, 2014 Thanks, Guys, then it´s the best fake I´ve seen so far. Didn´t pay much for it either, luckily :? Quote
Geraint Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Keep your eyes open then Flemming. This one screams at you, some of the more recent ones are getting very close. One turned up at a local auction and I had to look twice even with it in hand. Of course that could say more about me than the quality of fakes.................. Quote
Stephen Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 If you think this is the best you have ever seen then you need to go back to Nihonto 101 Quote
runagmc Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 After some study you will recognize the first pic as fake after the first row of pixels :D Also, if you are shopping for swords on ebay... don't. 100:1, fake:real Quote
