steve oakley Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 Hello I am seeking opinions on your thoughts if this tassel in the real deal or one of the chinese copies that has hit the market of late. It does show appropriate wear but then again this may have been done to deceive. thanks for looking Steve O Quote
lonely panet Posted March 30, 2014 Report Posted March 30, 2014 Hi Steve well by the lack of replys to your question, this should be a good guide to how tricky picking false tassels are. they are getting very good these days, so I only buy from friends who I know that have had the tassels for years. from the photos shown it looks ok to me, but once again its a tricky area. if you happen to get bitten you can only learn from the experience and move forward. I hope this can help in any way regards Hamish Quote
steve oakley Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 Hi Hamish Yes the market for these is a dangerous place with the good copies kicking around. I have either purchased an expensive replica or got a reasonably good deal on the original. regards Steve O Quote
drdata Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 As fyi, saw this on a WWII board: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... 787&page=2 I think its repro but does seem scary close. The loose weave/asymmetry of the round knots seems to tip in my mind. Quote

brannow Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 The red and brown tassel looks good to me. The generals tassel also looks good. Quote
