WW2 Japanese Officers Tassel

Hello

 

I am seeking opinions on your thoughts if this tassel in the real deal or one of the chinese copies that has hit the market of late. It does show appropriate wear but then again this may have been done to deceive.

well by the lack of replys to your question, this should be a good guide to how tricky picking false tassels are.

 

they are getting very good these days, so I only buy from friends who I know that have had the tassels for years.

from the photos shown it looks ok to me, but once again its a tricky area.

 

if you happen to get bitten you can only learn from the experience and move forward.

Yes the market for these is a dangerous place with the good copies kicking around. I have either purchased an expensive replica or got a reasonably good deal on the original.

I think its repro but does seem scary close. The loose weave/asymmetry of the round knots seems to tip in my mind.

Fake, IMO.

The red and brown tassel looks good to me. The generals tassel also looks good.
