Gilles Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Gentlemen, I saw lately an interesting topic related to tessen in the TRANSLATION ASSISTANCE folder written by Piers and just want to add some pictures about two tessen which were supposed to be made by sworsdmiths. DirkO Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Ah Gilles - I know the first one very well :-) Almost bought it myself - Gassan Sadakatsu - thought it was very well made! Good to know it's in France - Should you ever look to sell it one day - please think of me :-) Quote
Gilles Posted May 29, 2013 Author Report Posted May 29, 2013 Dear Dirk, A rather strange story. I saw it for sale in Japan few years ago and wanted to buy it. When I asked the seller, he told me it was already sold to a fellow countryman without more details. About two years ago, one of my friend went to my house and offered it for sale. He was the men who bought it in Japan and was just living next to me. This time I bought it on the spot. Don't worry, in case I sell it, you will be the first to know. :D Best regards, Quote
christianmalterre Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Haaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta! so it´s You now having it-LOLOL!!!! Funny story...i saw and studied it directly from Gassan-san´s hands in Japan those days... :D When i did ask him if it would ben for sale his response was an very kind neglect-as he already sold it during it´s manufacture/pre finnished process... Incredible how small this planet is! And now-it´s seemingly in France-just 500km apart from where i do live myself....LOL! Funny story! (will have to crowd some old pictures and send them to you!(as i did shoot pictures those times)) :D Edit: mine error!-just saw you wrote Sadakazu-(this of course can not be i met him-LOL!)-just did read Gassan.... I do mean Sadatoshi of course just browsed mine pictures and saw the one i was refering to....it´s not the same but very close indeed... Sorry for confusion... I but will send you those spoken pictures....such,you do have an nice "family booklet" for your´s personal reference... Cheers Gilles Christian Quote

cabowen Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Gassan school is known for making these. I have some made by the Enomoto smiths, who were from the Gassan line. I really like the other one better, however.... Quote
