I have some extremely high profile investors coming to Japan this summer, who want to to visit a Swordsmith for the day.

The would want a private and exclusive visit and money is no object... If that is what it takes and would love to have a dinner with said smith, family, etc that evening.

They would be mainly visiting Kinki, Chugoku, Hokuriku, and Koshin'etsu regions; out of the way places for the most part, although likely Hiroshima and Kobe too for a couple of days, and we can helicopter them to anywhere/ from anywhere, if needed.

Are there any Living National Treasures that are available or this? There would probably be some serious commissioning of new work going on too!

I have never dealt with this sort of request before, so was wondering if any of the NMB brethren had any info.

Cheers.

In addition I would like to get them to a Sumo stable, to watch practice and maybe participate... Again lunch or dinner with an Ozeki/Yokozuna or three would be good! :D

Not saying there are not others who could arrange this, but, Paul Martin is definitely a go-to person for this. He and I and another did some forging and had dinner with a swordsmith in Osafune, as well as visiting some other well respected artisans in the field. He is a good guy. John

Yep..agree with John. Since he is there and has such good ties with the All Japan Swordsmith Association, he would be the go-to guy.

Good idea... Pretty stupid of me really... I know Paul, and we have met in Tokyo previously... My Shochu addled brain, etc...

Thanks John and Brian, will give him a shout.

Cheers
