kuromido Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 Can anyone help with this mei? I know it should be easy but I can't get it. Thanks , PeterD Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 Maybe, 盛 mori, ?, 宗 mune. I can not read the area where the ana is. John Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 That seems very likely, perhaps one of the Bizen Osafune group. Can we see some blade pics? John Quote
Veli Posted January 1, 2013 Report Posted January 1, 2013 The mei looks much younger than 14th-15th c to me. There is raised, rather sharp-looking burr in the lowermost strokes of the 景-kanji... I'd imagine that would have been worn out during the centuries... Veli Quote
kuromido Posted January 4, 2013 Author Report Posted January 4, 2013 Thanks guys, I thank you for all the help. I did not get the piece so don't have pictures but I really appreciate your time. It looked like a nice blade , but was covered in dry rust and in need of a polish. My take was 15th-century, It had a simple Horimono and had seen many polishes. Maybe Better luck next time. Thanks so much , PeterD Quote
Curran Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Tanto from the recent Hudson Valley Auction? I read it as Morimune at first glance from the auction photos, but think the suggestion Morikage is perhaps more correct. Quote
kuromido Posted February 8, 2013 Author Report Posted February 8, 2013 Hi Curran, sorry for the late reply. Yes it was from that auction. Did you see the Tanaka ? school tsuba? if so ,what did you think of it? PeterD Quote
