The mei looks much younger than 14th-15th c to me. There is raised, rather sharp-looking burr in the lowermost strokes of the 景-kanji... I'd imagine that would have been worn out during the centuries...

Thanks guys, I thank you for all the help. I did not get the piece so don't have pictures but I really appreciate your time.

It looked like a nice blade , but was covered in dry rust and in need of a polish.

My take was 15th-century, It had a simple Horimono and had seen many polishes.

Maybe Better luck next time.

Tanto from the recent Hudson Valley Auction?

 

I read it as Morimune at first glance from the auction photos, but think the suggestion Morikage is perhaps more correct.
