Lindus Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 After a fine pub lunch with friends,four swords turned up :D All military mounted and have just looke at the first,seems Koto,polished with chrome cleaner but has a combat cover with clip over section. Underneath is the two hand written script,certainly by the surrender officer,any help with the translation would be most appreciated. Thanks folks Roy Quote
Drago Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 The second one says: 黒田富夫 Kuroda Tomio (if I'm not mistaken - my Internet is pretty slow today so I had trouble figuring that one out.) Quote
John A Stuart Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 The name is 黒田富夫 Kuroda Tomio or Yoshio Quote

Nobody Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 .................... 布施村(六x)大字販美 Fuse-mura Ooaza Iimi ................ Maybe a careless mistake; 販美 ---> 飯美 Quote
kunitaro Posted November 30, 2012 Report Posted November 30, 2012 a careless mistake; 販美 ---> 飯美 Ahh, Yes I was writing without glasses Reading "Iimi" is ok. ご指摘どうもありがとうございます。 It is very small Island. I wonder if there is some people who know about his family or descendants !?!? Quote
Lindus Posted November 30, 2012 Author Report Posted November 30, 2012 On who's part Moriyama san?. {Oops,your next comment Kunitaro san came as I was writing} Not rare I know but it seems we have the name and address of an IJA officer who survived the war and surrendered his family blade,how often do we see into the near past & if possible how would the family of that officer view this find???. Will look more closely at the blade over the next few days and try to take some picture although this will not be an easy project due to the polished state. Thank you all Roy Quote
kunitaro Posted November 30, 2012 Report Posted November 30, 2012 Dear Roy san, I found a bit more about mr.Kuroda Tomio. I called a few phone numbers in the island. found mrs.Sunagawa (88) who knows Kuroda Tomio. She said that Kuroda family was an old good family and he went to University in Tokyo, became an officer. maybe Second Lieutenant. mr.Kuroda Tomio passed away about 7-8years ago in Tokyo. (Maybe some of his family member is in Tokyo, she doesn't know) His younger brother Kuroda Tsuyoshi passed away in the island about 3-4 years ago. the wife of his brother (84) is still living at their old family house at Iibi village in the Island. I have her phone number. Quote
Lindus Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 Thank you for that,you PM comments re the return of the sword to the family are noted,have spoken with the owner who is prepared to accept what he paid for the sword as a special deal. Let me know if this is an option,have put "Hold" on the sword untill I hear from you. Regards Roy Quote
