  1. i talked to my local Postmaster and he got me with postal inspectors, i think registered may have helped but they did investigate eventually it showed up, don't think anything they did helped, but i was told they were actively searching for it
  2. i don't remember seeing it come into the show, being in Chicago it would seem a possibility. I agree that all is not lost, i had a Registered package that USPS lost for a month, it was riding around stuck in a truck. i complained long and hard, it finally showed up fingers crossed
  3. hope to see you in Chicago. good chance to see a lot and reintroduce yourself. mark
  4. Don’t think it’s the same sword. I sold it a couple of years ago in Vegas I think

  7. i have a copy of this book. I planned on taking it to Chicago for the show (i have a ton of books i am taking) but will post it here I see them priced all over the place, most seem to be around $300 so i will offer this one for $250 + post it is in good slightly used condition, the picture shows it standing up so it looks bent thanks mark nixe@bright.net
  8. is this what you are looking for? I have one i could spare let me know
  9. makes sense, thanks for the comments i guess i just have not seen something like that before
  10. Please see the pictures. I am not sure the purpose of this item. My guess maybe a pole arm? I am hoping someone has seen one before. The center opening is flat on one side and beveled on the other. and not sure why there is a small opening on one side, doesn't seem you would need a kozuka or similar any thoughts appreciated mark
  11. The show is getting close. The room block was full on one night, i was able to have them add a few rooms so if you had any issues getting a reservation give it a try now https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/CHIRW/G-TOK1 If you need a table i have a couple of cancellations, send me a message nixe@bright.net I am looking forward to seeing everyone Mark and family
  12. it is unfortunate this was not posted last week. there were several sword experts (at least knowledgeable) attending a show near Baltimore MD saturday and sunday you could have had it examined in hand. If there is no rush we will be back next year you could always bring it to the Chicago sword show or Orlando show
  13. Kanemoto
  14. The show is about 2 months away. Perfect time to make plans to attend. More swords, tsuba, kodogu etc in one place than you could see otherwise. Great hand on opportunity to learn. Saturday there will be educational presentations, more details to follow Basic show information here: http://www.chicagoswordshow.com/ If you want to stay at the Hyatt here is a link. Rooms are filling up, if you have trouble booking let me know https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/CHIRW/G-TOK1 If you want a table let me know, i usually have a few people who can't make it due to illness/emergency. 16. I have the top 2. And I added another to make 3. Let me know if you’re interested in any. Mark. Nixe@bright.net
  17. Kevin thanks for asking. i think i have at least one or two. i will look later today. my email is nixe@bright.net mark
  18. i agree on not polishing the sword. It appears to be a late (1880s-1940s) blade. Unless it was shortened. Either way best to enjoy it as is
  19. if your in the midwest you could wait for the Chicago show and see hundreds of swords in hand. see before you buy.
  20. Check Grey Doffin's site https://japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/item-category/swords/ he has several Wakizashi in that price range with modern NBTHK papers and some with koshirae Grey is known here and a great guy to deal with
  21. maybe the auction house has coverage? When i send a sword i had completed the "paperwork" in advance and they sent me shipping label/instructions and it was covered by them as it was already "under contract"
  22. congratulations well deserved win
