I don't complain since March ^^

Yeah it's samurai afterall and was shortened at least once. Tsuba is really good with those red accents. Individual order. It's sad that menuki are missing. Maybe someone more familiar with Suya soten would disclose if this manufacture used to pair crest at menuki with crest at pommel [kabutogane]. Give us measurements in spare time: Nagasa- from tip to munemachi and entire length. And why it's estimated age? "In the Edo period (江戸時代), the law regulated the sword size for different social class. Sword carriers, martial artists, and swordsmanship students were allowed to carry swords with blade length up to 2 shaku 3 sun (approximately 69.7 cm or 27.4 in) under Tokugawa Iemitsu (徳川家光) and up to 2 shaku 2 sun 8 bu (approximately 68.6 cm or 27 in) under Tokugawa Ietsuna (徳川家綱)" More in a link https://romanceofmen.com/blogs/katana-info/katana-nagasa-know-how-to-measure-katana-blade-the-right-way#HowToMeasureNagasa

Dual-signed Type 98 Officer’s Shingunto
Marcin replied to I_Kendo_It's topic in Military Swords of Japan
I see koshirae alone sells on ebay in 400-500$ range. But yeah paying ~1500$ for it or more is too much. Can anyne provide Fuller and Gregory 'Swordsmiths of Japan 1926-1945' oshigata 366? It is about this RJT I think. Dunno about this being oil tempered there are't any darker spots indicating oil. -
@Barrett Hiebert I would like to encourage you to check @Jussi Ekholm list and compare other works of this atribution. Great source. https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/53018-Japanese-old-sword-database/page/2/

Shin gunto T98 with open tsuba [guard] more info after nakago/tang is showed. I don't see signs of it having second hanger/haikan altough chuso is centered. Same about blade itself. There is hamon but close up would help in a matter if it was traditionally made [gendaito] or machine [showato] It's lacking menuki and tsukamaki. But no rust and tip is intact. Rayskin on hundle with full wrap. Have characterisctic lumps [bigger ones closer to pommel are nice to see] http://ohmura-study.net/934.html @Bruce Pennington how often you see seki/showa stamped swords with centered chuso? I wonder if this don't indicate gendaito/pre war sword. In manufacture/factory blades were made in batches. So thinking position of mekugi ana was standardized to speed up production.

handle for old (civil) nihonto
Marcin replied to kleber75's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
I know but one I have in mind also do other services. It was probably Giorgio Movilli. http://www.Japanese-sword.it/index.html Maybe it's time to refresh list? In Europe there are some togishi. And sending to Japan for polish still requires shirasaya. It's owners call. priceLlist_JapaneseSword-2019.pdf -
I wouldn't go even for chinese occupation. Rat tail tang. Imagine striking anything with it. Posted picture told a lot.

handle for old (civil) nihonto
Marcin replied to kleber75's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
If you value this blade and you want to keep it go for new shirasaya. For me every blade is a completed project when it have proper shirasaya. Koshirae is for exposition. You have saya already dunno if need to be refreshed inside. There is one togishi in Italy. Maybe someone will post more info about him. -
You have limit 2.93 max on photo. Do pictures in less resolution/cut unused space around item and don't change resolution while saving after changes. Or simply use some site with pictures free service and post link...

I will dump here links I find. Not only F/K but remember - caveat emptor For starters kogai/kozuka https://ebay.us/m/gMYb9s

As I thought you have sharp eye. This seller smells like jauce. Im almost 100% that he is a collector moving his collection now.

I request assistance identifying a blade from WWII
Marcin replied to MorganRedstone's topic in Nihonto
First of all get any professional info in person. Get NTHK? It's waki afterall. -
But you weren't the one on bambi account. Mr @Rivkin I would like to ask for your opinion on this particular blade. Pappers are just pappers. I don't see anything special in this piece except sugata only. It's "shrine sword" but it looks so pale. I attached best of jigane I could. I'm thinking that @waljamada and me were both lucky enough not to buy this.

@Bruce Pennington check this one. Kai gunto with "older blade". Titled directly NLF. https://ebay.us/m/QgsmmE

Schill? IMO obvious one. This particular seller is "jauce victim"? Looking on his items most give jahoo Japan vibes. And those bids from fresh account... https://ebay.us/m/ycCUJk

Shinto [so-called kanbun-shinto with minimal sori] or end of edo [bakumatsu/longer blades. How long is nagasa? Dunno if marked kizu is kirikomi.
-
It dsn't look shorten at all. Blade is in good shape. Kanbun era? But mei is different from 2 Kuniyoshi active in this period. I'm going to look for more examples with this nakago jiri. https://nihontoclub.com/view/smiths/list

Thoughts on this sword I just picked up
Marcin replied to Eric187's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Mr @Rayhan your opinion is equally valuable. I like extremely skeptical point of view. When I buy trash I know what I buy. But If you would agree to be less "aggresive" it would be better for everyone here. We don't want to scare anyone from posting. Especially new collectors. -
Nr 33 Its your mon. Page 246 @Bruce Pennington
