  1. Hi, My humble opinion on this. Suriage (shorten) Wakizashi. If you can provide Nagasa (cutting blade) length then we can guess if it was Katana or Wakizashi originally. Early Edo (17th century, second half probably) period so Shinto sword. Sugata looks to me like Echizen Seki school, that plus remaining Mei could point to Kanenaka (thanks Ray!). Tsuka+Tsuba late or end of Edo period. Saya WWII Gunto. Not a bad overall condition, after polish it could reveal more (Hada/Hamon). Worth the effort/money if you ask me. Pictures of Echizen Seki Sugata/Nakago for reference:
  2. Still available, price 450$.
  3. Still available, price 325$.
  4. Still available, price 300$.
  5. 2nd/3rd still available Price 260$ per each.
  6. New/renovated Koshirae = 1000$ (Soten Tsuba alone is 200$). That gives 1450$ for a healthy Sue-Bizen Wakizashi in perfect polish. Really no one interested?
  7. Hi, I'm looking for Tsuba for Wakizashi. Something like below example. Mokko Gata with Shakudo. Anyone?
  8. Lowering price to 2450$ (plus shipment).
  9. Nade Maru Gata, Kaneie school?

    Books for sale

    Hi, All in French?
  11. @Rivkin Thank you very much for taking time in creating and sharing!
  12. We can only guess. To me it looks like home made/assembled with random parts. Was it done in Japan or USA, I don't know.
  13. Hi, My guess is late Shinto Mino Den (Sugata, Nakago, Mumei). As for the rest, that is IMO end of the line for this sword. I doubt you can sell it or 'fix' it. What is left is just keep it as it is, as a souvenir. Tsuba seems Edo period, maybe bought and added later by the sword's owner. Saya seems to not be from Shirasaya, as it has spot (missing) for Koiguchi. That whole 'Koshirae' is a freaking Frankenstein if you ask me
  14. Hi, It is a tricky question, since each sword is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it This one, based on the pictures, looks like a very nice O-Wakizashi/Ko-Katana. In decent polish and with nice looking, original Gunto Koshirae. Blade might be Shinto Echizen as per my first guess. I wouldn't mind to have one like that in my collection. IMHO it is easily worth minimum 3k$. Even without papers (although for some collectors they are mandatory). At least no one will call it Gimei, since it is Mumei PS. If you are looking to buy then please also check this forum's 'for sale' section. There are some nice packages there available (including mine, therefore the adversary).

Other Info and Full Description : Hi, I'm looking to sell my Koto Bizen Osafune Wakizashi. Decent polish and very good (IMHO) overall condition. It comes with beautiful Koshirae (renovated, Fuchi/Kashira/Menuki/Tsuba/Kojiri are from early Edo period). If you are interested, please ask and I will do my best to answer. I can also post additional pictures or videos if needed. My asking price is equal to what I have paid, no earnings here.
  16. Some more pictures and videos: Kunitsugu - Google Drive Thanks!
  17. Thanks @Mark S.! I think you nailed it. Sword is worth as much, as someone is willing to pay for it. Maybe I was looking for comments to justify my idea of 'good deal'. Anyway, I just wanted to share (or boast ... sorry) about my new acquisition. As it is really nice sword, looks way better then on pictures. Cheers! And thanks again everyone for your help and comments!
  18. I've seen a way better swords here on this forum for sell, even for less. Check 'for sale' section. If you have that budget, then maybe add 500/1000EURO more and you will afford even better (and in Koshirae) swords.
  19. It is Gimei, not Mumei (Mumei = no signature). And yes, seller is right, looks like poorly made Gimei (engraved Mei). Like Brian wrote, if it is up to 500$, you can buy it as entry/learning sword. All depends on what you are looking for. I personally wouldn't buy it, even for 400$. I doubt that. Do you know how much professional polish costs? I don't think it makes sense to do it for this sword.
  20. Found another one TH rated: https://www.samuraimuseum.jp/shop/product/antique-Japanese-sword-wakizashi-signed-by-fujiwara-kunitsugu-nbthk-tokubetsu-hozon-certificate/
  21. My guess is based on Sugata and Nakago. Echizen Seki is a Shinto school. All is just a guess from newbie collector
  22. Shinto Echizen (seki)?
  23. Dear NMB, Last request on this sword, if you please. Give me rough estimation on how much it is worth. I think I made a good deal and I'm eager to see what others think. PS. I like this sword very much and not intend to re-sell, just curious on your thoughts.
  24. What I found in books. Juyo token example.
