  1. BTW, I love katate-uchi from the sengoku jidai
  2. Again, dont get on the defensive. When you ask questions you will receive all types of answers. Just FYI, most collectors consider the sengoku period swords as mostly utilitarian but there are exceptions of course. What the other members are saying is you have spent about 3-4k since joining the board and most feel that could of gone towards books or one really nice wakizashi or whatever. But when you ask for opinions you might not always like the reply's.. Respectfully,
  3. I would imagine it depends on the school and smith its attributed to...
  4. Very nice find, what does the nakago look like?
  5. Yes, much appreciated!
  6. I would love to hear suggestions as well.. All I have heard is 60watt lighting is best??
  7. First decide if you want just a shirasaya or koshirae. Then if you choose koshirae do a little research (visual) and buy a tsuba that you like, then fuchi/kashira then send it out to get put together. Or I have heard there are a few people who are good at retro fitting blades to existing koshirae, although I imagine its difficult.. It's all about what you want and screw the rest...! Just my opinion.. Respectfully,
  8. It was less a slam and more a surprise based on the traditionally strict view in this forum regarding restoration. No offense meant!
  9. Well, then my library sucks! Thank god for dvr's....
  10. Might I suggest asking some members who they recommend for this type of restoration..
  11. Hey I watched all the women's volleyball!
  12. It sold for 3550.00....
  13. Tell me about it, I stumbled on to the channel around 830pm est and stayed up until 2am but I recorded them as well... Frick'n dragging at work because of it, Yay Mifune Toshiro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Is it broken? It just looks like a chinese kissaki to me with the straight edge to it?
  15. Looks like a Chinese copy to me and a bad one at that... Just my opinion!
  16. I have owned a Yoshu Hojo Ju Hiromasa with a very nice choji hamon and have also seen a few other blades by this smith all done in the Bizen tradition..
  17. Interesting, so is it the same as Hizen smiths signing on the tachi omote? Regards,
  18. I know, I dont get why its stated as kamakura jidai?
  19. I know but, for a sue-bizen blade and decent koshirae not a bad deal... But it is kind of funny!
  20. Thank you! As a matter of fact another member sent me an ebay link to those pens which I will purchase. Thanks again!
  21. I saw this and kind of like it.. I asked about the katana mei and the seller stated that it is also seen on Bingo or Bitchu (cant remember) blades during the kamakura jidai.. But it looks sue-bizen to me, plus the boshi would be the san-saku boshi..? But I like it for what it is....
  22. Will do and thanks!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Thanks to all for the compliments! I used a jewelers sonic to loosen most of the rust, soaked about 3-4 hours. Then I took a tool my friend made me which is basically a pencil shape but made out of bone and used that to remove more of the rust. Then a little choji oil and emry cloth and then back to the bone tool and so on.. I lost a little metal in some places but not too much... I hate seeing these old fittings go to waste and since I cant polish swords I wanted to try my hand at this. A friend is sending me a few pieces to work on for him so when they're done ill post pics of them as well.. Again thanks!!!!
  24. Thank you very much! It took about 15 hours of work but as soon as I saw the chocho it made it worth it.. Such delicate inlay..
