    I call this " why bother" a financial lose as well as time. Having to either file or pinch in areas t make it fit. Fill out with extra seppa or modify the mekugi. And what do you have at the end!! Mis matched modified u original sword. Easily spotted if you ever try and sell. Maybe just buy a complete original piece and save all this fuss

    The type 3 was a late war sword. Quality control and economic conditions reduced time or skilled craftsmen so from my experiences the tsuka fit was always much poorer and required a 2nd mekugi to compensate for rushed products standards. Even on gendai in type 3s this is considered appropriate
