    Hello, I recently received NTHK kanteisho papers for a sword at US shinsa and was curious what determines nakago oshigata vs nakago photo on the certificate? I have seen both, but was not sure on the criteria that determines oshigata or photo. Thanks! Brandon

    Hello, I submitted the shinsa registration fee via paypal yesterday for the SF August sword show (also sent an email with a few questions). Does anyone know how long it takes to secure a time slot (before I book flights, this is my first shinsa for a sword). Thanks, Brandon

    Mark, I got those pretty inexpensively off a tosogu Facebook group. Might be worth checking there. I tend to like plain fuchi/kashira as they can go with more themes, ha. Brandon

    Thank you all for the feedback. 16k, thank you for confirming real yokote. I have an iaito and was looking at options for longer shinken and the komonjo pricing is inline with higher end production shinken (which is how I was mentally categorizing these). Again, appreciate it! Brandon

    Hello, I was not sure which category to post this under. Has anyone who purchased a komonjo “gendaito” actually used it for iaido or tameshigiri? - Are they safe to use? - Are they sharp or do they need to be sharpened / re-polished? - Are the yokote cross polished or geometric? For 2.8 shaku nagasa, the prices are reasonable (compared to production swords). But getting habaki and koshirae made is not insignificant. Thank you in advance! Brandon
