  1. Definitely would recommend leaving kirikomi intact as to speaking to history of blade
  2. Ray, very interesting especially the kirikomi on the mune of the blade. Good chance this was used in an uprising or rebellion like Robert stated. The kirikomi looks definitely like it’s been there for a long time with original polish. Fascinating. Thank you
  3. Nice Blade. This one definitely does not get tossed into the Gimei Pile and sold off in some WW2 forum
  4. Thank you both, I can’t wait to see what it looks like in polish as well. Long wait. Definitely will look better in polish. Also looked sumihada in other pics. Utsuri was also there which I remember had a multilayered colored effect depending on angle and light source. Here is nioiguchi saved from old pics
  5. I posted this sword in the past and was just looking at some of the old pics trying to find out more about it. It currently is being in process of being polished by jimmy Hayashi and habaki and shirasaya by Brian Tschernega. Long wait to have this work completed. Here are some of the old pics. Jimmy thought it did appear like Aoe blade but of course Shinsa recommended. Sorry to some of you that have already seen these pics from old post
  6. I acquired a blade a while ago and to me appears like tight komokune hada and has the crinkle texture that has a 3 dimensional depth to it like it’s encased in ice with bright jinie sprinkled over it. It has a few different qualities to the hada than just one broad categorization of type.
  7. My brother saw it on a WW2 Wehrmacht forum posting for sale and was asking about it. I let him know that on this forum members know a lot more than me but suspected that it was Gimei which Ray confirmed that. The seller still represented that he knew very little about the blade but stated it was an important sword on the WW2 forum. I told my brother to pass on it.
  8. Picture of Mike and my son at a Nanka Token Kai meeting in Los Angeles. Mike really inspired my sons interest in Japanese culture and study
  9. Trying to identify information on this tsuba that belonged to my son given as a gift by Mike Yamasaki back in 2017 San Francisco Token Taikai Sword Show. My son really cherished this as it was a kind gift from Mike to inspire the younger generations in the history and culture of Japan.
  10. Thank you Ray for your knowledge and time
  11. Thank you Ray. The seller is asking $1225 I don’t know if good deal or not for wak from this time period from 3rd gen Tadayoshi
  12. Hizen no kuni mutsu No kami Tadayoshi but don’t know which Gen
  13. I am looking at a Tadayoshi wakizashi but not sure as there are many generations. Many gimei out there of the famous Tadayoshi as well. Here is pic. By looking at mei is it possible to identify which smith or if Gimei
  14. Perhaps you are right. Thank you Jean
  15. The nakago is very deteriorated. Does this appear to be Rai. I am creative and hopeful in my thinking which often gets me in trouble. Please give me your honest opinion if you see something potentially there or if it’s more of a Rorschach type of perception.
  16. Just click on sellers other items for sale to view other items. Far too many to list all the links. Hope this helps Stephen

  18. Maybe a Muramasa disguised as a Hiromitsu lol 😂
  19. The sellers name on eBay is bleeding_gums he has a few interesting pieces on auction he states from a large liquidation from a large collection. The Hiromitsu hitatsura temper looks too defined and exaggerated like tobiyaki instead of subdued or subtle like Hiromitsu
  20. Currently a Hiromitsu tanto is for auction on eBay. Obviously it’s Gimei but a good learning opportunity. The temper looks hitatsura but pattern looks nothing like Hiromitsu. Could be late soshu but more likely seki, mino or Shimada. Patterns look crescent shaped and mashed together. The nakago has the fish belly shape common in soshu but also in Shimada and other schools up thru the Muromachi. What do you guys think.
  21. My prayers are with you and family. I can relate to loss but still have a hard time understanding and acceptance of loss. My teenage son committed suicide 3 years ago. I have 5 children and on 2nd marriage. One thing I have learned is life is not fair nor rational. Find purpose, have faith, keep moving. Focus on something you love Nihonto ☺️
  22. Another interesting fact about Knotts Berry farm is Walter Knott was the first to commercially cultivate the Boysenberry. It’s my wife’s favorite Boysenberry preserves sold by Knotts Berry Farms.
