  1. Any idea what the kanji marks on the seppa are? Rgds, Corry
  2. Thats a one look fake actually one glance. Poor details on the chrysanthimums and tsuka in general. Blade actually looks like it could be real, but its missing the small kanji character by the SN (sorry cant remember what its called) and better pics needed. He'll get his money back. I did lots of research before I purchased my first type 95..he should too. Fakes are getting REAL good though and I have to look real close at some of them, before figuring out fakes. Reserch and he'll be happier in the future. Regards, Corry
  3. That's about as good as it gets, but $$$$ WOW! Question, why do some of the type 95 tsubas have brassy metallic looking crysanthimums, and other have yellow painted ones? Different makers/time periods?
  4. I don't know any serious collector that would recommend taking off the Tsuba on a type 95. There is noting of value to see there and the tsuba may not go back on right and you'll end up with a loose handle. That shows how little that monkey dude knows. BTW, is this a concern for officers swords as well as well? Rgds, Corry
  5. I know this should probably be in the wanted section, but I also have questions about determining Serute originality. Thanks! If anyone can recommend a reputable seller or has one lying around. Please let me know. Been looking on feabsay and the ones I am seeing don't look they have proper details and a bit unfinished. Opinions welcome. This Sarite looks orig nice details and nicely finished: But these look a bit rougher and of a different decorative type. Any input welcome. I am looking for late war Sarute if that matters or makes any difference. Are these below original and how does one tell? https://www.ebay.com/itm/265234827867?hash=item3dc13a4a5b:g:3-cAAOSwQZVcJBnj https://www.ebay.com/itm/265234827187?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D118e92e59825463dbb42f4370ba082b8%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D255089121459%26itm%3D265234827187%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2506613&_trksid=p2506613.c100290.m3507 Best Regards, Corry
  6. Thanks Bruce. I'll try to find an orig 4 tab with the correct location for the locking mechanism. Hate to use fleabay..but probably where i'll find one. Are the 4 tab all the same width? I would like the lock to still work and am afraid if too thick, it won't. Does this look legit? https://www.ebay.com/itm/265234826502?hash=item3dc13a4506:g:NIQAAOSwIDdcvJYC
  7. Also, What is the liklihood of finding a 4 tabbed seppa marked "1?" I am guessing VERY low. I H8 anything loose on my swords, but dont want a frankensword. Other suggestions are welcome. THX!
  8. Bruce, they are all marked 1, pics above. THX!!!
  9. Sorry for the poor pics..Me thinks I need a new camera..or learn how to take better pics Rgds, Corry
  10. Blade discussed here:
  11. Thats just the thing. they are all marked "1." I just took pics of both sides in the orig post.:
  12. All, One of my WW2 guntos has all matching seppa marked, "1". I think i am missing one of the 4 tabbed seppa (only one present)..fittings a just a bit loose. Any idea what the, "1" means? Is it 1mm? Here are pics of front and back. Most have what looks like a kanji charachter (Batallion Daitai?) on them as well. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Corry
  13. OK, I should have enough info to make an informed decision. Thanks for all your thoughts and links! Much appreciated! Best Regards, Corry
  14. I do owe Chris Bowen an apology, even if It turns out to actually be a Gendaito. He spent the time to give me his thoughts and I was not a gentleman. I was a bit animated and over reacted on FB. I don't expect to be able to rejoin the page though. I wish him the best! Best Regards, Corry
  15. Thanks Bruce, I have always known you to be knowledgeable and a straight shooter. I don't comment much, but stalk the page a bit.
  16. All, Thanks for your input on this. Still looking for more info, so please chime in, if you have further to add. Best Regards, Corry
  17. Stephen, honestly, thanks for your thoughts on this. I am not saying you or even Chris are wrong. There just seems to be a lot of controversy about this. I mostly specialize in 3rd reich..about 1/3rd of my collection and am a subject matter expert on a few items and I get fooled once in a great while until I look REALLY closely. I have also seen this happen to other highly experienced collectors that have authored books on the subject. Another 1/3 of my collection is Imperial Japanese. I know a lot about NCO's etc, (but those are easy, fakes are getting better all the time tho..on a scary level) but am not anywhere near an expert on Gendaito.(thats why I am here I just am trying to figure it out?. Seems to have the correct features of gendaito, maybe I am wrong. I don't want to get burned, because this was not cheap. I also, don't want to screw over the seller if he is correct. I have provided him with a link to this discussion, in case he wants to defend his point of view. He has been in business for 10-15 years. I don't think he would still be around if he was unethical, but as stated, even experts miss things and make mistakes. Best Regards, Corry
  18. Doesn't mean he is right about everything!. There are plentry of 3rd reich "experts that are wrong the time. I see it LOTS.
  19. Matt, just out of curiosity, what are your reasons?
  20. The only person who was arguing with me was Chris Bowen. That is not an answer. Assuming You've seen the post???
  21. According to the seller, "Ask if Ikkansai Kunimori (Yasuhiro) made showato/oil-tempered swords. You will get lots of laughs."
  22. Does this maker make water quenched Gendaito 1945 ((IKKANSAI KUNIMORi) This has a wavy Hamon. Chris Bowen is NOT welcome to reply. Its 1945, no showa stamp: Rgds, Sterling
