  1. Hi Bruce I have one blade made by Nagamitsu and yes it is the same that you talk about but the pictures are in better luminosity and quality now........i think its a mistake in the number the corect number is 1867......look at this conversation we have earlier last year!!! No worries😉
  2. Happy easter !!! Its a pleasure for my eyes to see all that superb Gendaitos you all have!!! Thats give me the idea to post some pics of my humble Rinji Seishiki Nagamitsu Cant tell so much about Nagamitsu and never see a picture of him but like Neil said previously Nagamitsu was a sword maker for the Osaka army arsenal.....also i think that the kanji "Naga" have mostly 2 stroke but sometime 3 stroke and some said that with all that Nagamitsu blades found over the years Nagamitsu probably have some students who made and sign Nagamitsu and maybe this explain why some variation in the kanji "Naga"....defenitively Nagamitsu is a swordsmith that we dont know alot about and i hope that in the futur we will discover more about him.....
  3. Its look like its been freshly polished!! Really nice blade Merry Christmas
  4. I supose its an old blade because you have 2 holes for the bambo wood lock so we can presume that the blade where mounted 2 times with different handles during time I suggest you to go see somebody that can evaluate properly the sword My 2 cents Eric.
  5. Hi George I know the thread is little bit old but To answer your #1 question.... My Rinji Nagamitsu nagasa is 27in 5/32.....i have a longer one than Bruce but your still the longer🤣 I have the common black menuki On the handle and blade is a very strait suguha hamon Merry Christmas to you all Eric
  6. Thanks everyone to share pictures and informations about Minatogawa gendaito Beautyfull kai gunto Very interesting!
  7. Hey Bruce ive just read the links about the type 3 Rinji Seishiki that you share!!! A lot of info!!! Very interesting! Thanks for sharing this!!! Eric
  8. Woah Bruce big work on that chart!! Good info collected thru the time! Thanks for sharing this!!! I notice a little error in the chart ..... My Nagamitsu type 3 serial number Is 1867 not 1861 When i bought the Nagamitsu,i ask the seller if he have some info about the blade....he told me that he bought it a couple years ago from a guy in the USA, and told me a war time storie about a GI's unit that found a lot of around 200 brand new type 3 gunto that have been never delivered to soldier, the GI's split the lot between them and bring them back home, and thats why we can find a lot of Nagamitsu blade in superb condition!!! They never see the battlefield ! Have you ever ear this storie before? Regards Eric
  9. Bruce The saya color is green, Yes this is saka stamp and the number is 1867
