  1. Yes it does Bruce, both has nihonto inside. The top one is the Gassen blade with paper, I’ve taken many pictures unfortunately they’re all too large size for posting so I will try again shortly
  2. Thank you very much, I see now the menuki is not a railroad menuki but I suppose those can be lost easily. Surprising that a junior official can afford such a nice oversized custom made dirk with a koto Gassen blade lol
  3. I believe I picked up a Korean governor HQ dagger or potentially an early Meiji naval dagger. Let me know if I am correct counting out the Paulowani, thank you!
  4. Selling a custom order Naval dirk , as you can see it is slightly oversized compared to a standard dirk, same is in great shape, the blade is made of stainless steel and possibly made in Tenshozan Taren that specializes in stainless Kai guntos $800 obo
  5. I posted this on the tassel thread, but this is a late war Gendai KaiGunto signed by Akikuni. Single haiken, and came with an Army tassel. It is sort of an amalgamation of early and late war features. Nice Samesaya, water quenched gendai, single haiken and no same on the grip.
  6. This Kai Gunto came from its original owner with an Army tassel. The saya looks like it never had a second haiken installed, and with an Army tassel it is reasonable to guess that it belonged to an Officer belonging to the Navy Landing Detachment/Marines
  7. I collect almost exclusively nihonto in Gunto mount and it’s rare to run into older/slender blades for some reason. Currently eyeballing this Gunto from a good friend and I’m looking for some opinions some very respected forum members so far has suggested Sue Tagei, SuMihara or KoMihara. thank you all ahead of time, one thing for sure this blades deserves a good polish, the nie utsuri even in this condition looks spectacular
  8. Sry but that’s a pretty bad Chinese fake
  9. Ahh. So you’re the reason why the Masatada jumped up $1500 in the final 10 seconds! Great pickup, I would for sure send it in for a full polish
  10. Was watching a rerun of my favorite key&peele skits when I spotted something familiar
  11. Steve, did you ever receive the sword and if so how is it ?
  12. No Stephen it’s not mine. I asked him for more pictures and I guess it got better.
  13. This particular sword caused quite a commotion on Facebook today but I’ve been advised by experts that this one has all the traits of a Gimei including badly stamped Kikusu-mon whats the consensus of this board?
  14. Did you get the KiyoKane or nagamitsu? Either way both were excellent blades, and yup I got the best out of the dirks so you were one step late on that one my friend btw, small world!
  15. It is indeed handmade and recently polished, mumei
  16. Lousivile gun show ehh? There were maybe 4-5 swords there worth looking at, I picked up a nice Gendai naval dirk there
  17. I’ve been hunting for a Meiji era naval dirk with a handmade blade for a long time and finally came by something that matches the criteria. Would love to see what treasures the board members here has!
  18. Thank you , I do enjoy studying this one slot!
  19. I picked up this Katana signed Bishu Osafune Norimitsu a while ago and always assumed that it is a Gimei due to the lack of Sori/Kanbun style worksmenship. Just would like to get some expert’s consensus on this? Despite it all this actually ends up being one of my favorite sword to study due to the wild activities in the blade.
  20. I paid somewhere north of 2K for this prime example which I felt was fair
  21. Here you go Stephen, my untrained eyes says the lack of Sori puts it somewhere in Kanbun era, Osaka school maybe ?
