  1. Yes, the books I ordered came in this week, plus my favorite I have had for some time ; Oshigata Book Japanese Swordsmiths WWII Samurai Sword I really like the swords made by this smith, and will buy them when I can, I know there are a lot of other members in here that dont like Showa Era swords, but I do, and it's my money I'm spending. I'm not going to buy anymore swords, unless they are an Kanezane until I do some good reading, but wont pass one of his swords up. thanks for the comments. Brian
  2. YES, I do not care for sellers that do the " GHOST BIDDING " thing, you can always tell, as it is the same bidders every time bidding up the prices, and never no feedback left for either party. Give them time, as usually a week or so later the sword is re-listed, or an second chance offer is sent to the actual person that had the legit bid. Brian
  3. Okay, I bought from an dealer overseas, it has Kanezane's signature, and hotstamp on the Nakago, and it has the full combat mounts, and has a great Hamon as well. I know plenty of collectors do not like Showa Era swords, but I do, and this is in great condition. Brian
  4. @ Ernst WOW, I like that, really nice, thanks for sharing it. So who does own it, since you said it is for sale? Brian
  5. I was just curious about it, as I have seen so many with beautiful designs, and then I saw this plain Jane one, and was confused about it. thanks Brian
  6. @ Matt, yes exactly, the sword is valued more as a whole. I really like this one, but of course I prefer the Showa Era swords, with the combat mounts. Brian
  7. @ Henry, yes i agree, some people think if they clean these things they will be worth more money, what a dumb mistake to do. Brian
  8. Yes, I do think it was cleaned by someone that knew nothing how to treat these items, and it is pretty plain. Thanks Brian
  9. Please let me know what you think of this, as it seems pretty plain. Thanks Brian
  10. I don't care for these NCO swords, as I like the traditional Ito wrapping on the Tsuka, but something about this one that i do like. Really nice. Brian
  11. Just added it to my Amazon list, i have no problem buying books, as knowledge will only make me better in this field. thanks, Much appreciated. Brian
  12. Never mind, sorry for asking, I will find out myself. Brian
  13. Yes, Too many books to buy, and too many to read, I only have so much time in the day. Brian
  14. I'm just curious why they would put that Chrysanthemum stamping on the tang of the blade. Does anyone know why they would do this, I have seen it before on other Showa type swords in the past. thanks Brian
  15. So, you are saying it is bad, or what ? Brian
  16. Okay, I had posted pics, and info on this tanto, and I have seen other Chrysanthemum stampings before , but they all had a star instead on the round circle like this one has on it. The seller states this is from the 15th Century. Could someone please explain this to me. thanks Brian ebay link ; http://www.ebay.com/itm/221068860657?ss ... 1426.l2648
  17. I had to post this, as I don't see too many of these in the original GI box that used to ship the sword home in, and the sword is in really great shape, and shows a good Hamon on it. It's a little out of my price range, but really nice to see the original shipping crate, and postage and such on it. Link : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-WW2-Japanes ... 19d30336e7 Thank you Brian
  18. WOW, really nice... Thanks for sharing. Brian
  19. There is a guy that has an Showa sword on eBay, with that very Monkey hands sarute on it for sale. Brian
  20. Like I said, I tried to win it, as I need one for one of my swords, but my max amount was 100.00. Since we are on the subject someone said something to me about one they have for sale, they said it has what is called " monkey's hands " on it. Are you familiar with this one. Brian
  21. I was trying to buy it, I just put a limit on myself the max amount I would go. Yes, bidding crazy on eBay can get nuts. Brian
  22. I believe this is the one he was talking about; http://www.ebay.com/itm/221063495802?ss ... 1435.l2649 Brian
  23. I was one of those that was trying to win it, but once it his over 100.00, I quit bidding, just watched it, as i could use one for a Showa sword that is missing it. Makes me wonder if there was some ghost bidding going on there. Brian
  24. I liked the episode tonight, nice armor set. Brian
  25. Thank you, and I will follow the new rules to the letter. I only was asking because I had an Kanezane sword on here, which is a well know swordsmith, mentioned in many publications, and have been told his swords were highly collected, and I asked one of the moderators pull it down, because of the negativity I was getting from it. I followed your rules exactly as you said they were to be followed, and yet so many were trash talking me and the sword, I see some post's in here I don't like, but out of respect for you, and these forums, I would never trash talk anyone in here. I believe we all are mature adults, not a bunch of school children. thank you Brian
