a boys day sword, at first post I thought it may be a sword cane until I seen following photos. singed Sadamune does not mean its a fake just looks like a nice presentation boys day sword from the 1920-30s or so.
classic mino Sanbonsugi ....out of John Yumotos book....A set of three sharp pointed tempered lilnes characterized by a regular zigzag pattern. Almost exclusively a feature of the Kanemoto or Magoroku, school of Seki Province.
is right just put Japanese Antique or Japanese Nihonto, I often use for appraisal or restoration that seems to help everyone. you might want to go to a different PO too.
which shipping would be best USA or Nippon, here is a link from Fred Lohman's site. I think his kits are of good value and have heard nothing but bad about the kits with the red balls, anyway here it is>

don't remember anything about the shape, did read somewhere that if its ubu drilled the it was after the foreigners showed up with steel drills making it Shinto and punched it was most likely koto, I have a blade with a key hole shape ana also but not as pronounced as this one. Sorry I cant be of more help.
Yes it was Eric's, he had so much Second chance email asking about, he's now using private auction for bidders.

Wertka3@aol.com
both wont give a name or location...just want you to send them some of your hard earned cash.
ill say once more I'm sure its gimei but not qualified to say so, it takes someone with more training to make a statement to that effect, even when its obvious
a nakago brought back to normal size, Jim K talked about it when I showed him one of mine that was cut to remove the mei. he said it was done in Japan alot and in a hundred years no one would know the deference
not sing in Japanese in the opening credits, I found FOF a bit too much going back and forth, concept had been done well with SPR, looking forward to the FOI to see how well he captures the Bushido spirit. Thanks for the Yamato link, looking for it now on ebay or Amazon.
right to me...i split the screen and hand yours next to the page i posted...not very encouraging and the out of polish does not show us much ...id say if he wants a arm and a leg i'd pass, the price of a good gunto it may be worth getting into it. Dont go by my assessment ask others what they think.
and thought the blades very intersting...but was wondering about the fittings they look like new repo tsuka and tsuba, do you have better photo to post here?

Hi Steven,
Thank you for thinking of us. We are all fine but it did shake us up quite a bit. The big Island and Maui were hit the hardest with structual damage to some buildings and landslides. On our island the entire electric system was shut down so they have been slowly restarting it in different areas of the island. We finally got ours back this morning. They are still getting the bugs out of it because the street lights are messed up. I think flights are back to normal so Bob can come back on Wed.
Take care,
Rita
