not rare at all,check the hamilton catalog. Sometimes they are referred to in the western world as " junk inlay ".............you can interpret whatever you want from that description. milt

Mark, I am not totally convinced your f/k set is a matching set. Shishi, by convention, usually is associated with peony, not prunus as in your case. milt

one more pic of the " inside " of the kozuka hole..... appears to have quite a few bones, as they are inside the hole, don't think they are " hammer works " to simulate bones. That brought to mind about the surface ' texture/features " of the tsuba surface .... are those bones ? or are they hammer works ? milt

You betcha.......... Nothing is " perfect ", my set has a " mis-matched " kashira ( at least that's what I thought ). Just to illustrate the point that workmanship/taste could be " subjective ". the mei is Hisahide, late edo, listed in Kinko meikan ( new edi )..............but then, why compare strokes for strokes ? mei can be copied easily as we agreed. p.s. here's to " show off " the " other end " milt
