  8. I am curious, what makes you call this an active hamon? I don't see it. It may just be the combo of photos and polish. Do you see hatarki? What activity do you see? Best regards Jamie
  9. Robert, You should go to the show. It's immeasurable in your studies. You'll see so many fine swords in one place.
  10. Wow Ron, nice job building that! Eric is awesome. We used to study together a bit.

Is the point against the floor in that picture? You might consider handling the blade with a microfiber cloth.
  12. I don't favor gunto, but i do like the ray skin one. Nice collection. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Brenda, The "pebble" on the ray skin is part of the skin. It's called the emperors node I believe. The tsuka on yours has a full wrap of same, I don't think the gap is a problem at all. It happens over time. Hope this helped Jamie.
  14. Vern, In the future you might consider putting the sword on something soft. You also might want read this : http://www.nbthk-ab.org/Etiquette.htm Hope it helps
  15. I can add some chalk and try for better pics if these don't work. I think this might b hard, as a couple people have been unable to translate the date. Thanks so much for your help. It's on a Ken tanto signed Un sho I believe. Any corrections appreciated. Jamie
  16. I'm in Denver and i'd be happy to show your husband a couple swords if you guys make it down here sometime. Hope that may help Jamie
  17. Hi Thierry I'm more of a sword guy, but I really like these. Especially the top one. It must be so difficult to carve metal. Thanks for posting pics of them. Jamie

  19. Shira saya is not incomplete. Nihonto have rested in them for decades as I imagine yours does now right? I understand what you mean though. Personally I think it better to purchase based more on blade merit as the study of fittings is almost an entirely separate field. Congrats on your first nihonto!
  20. I know it's much cheaper to buy a beat up sword with intention to restore, but it's best to buy a sword in polish as you can study it immediately. You lose a lot on this one. Hope this helps
  21. He altered the item therefore breaching your return policy. He decreased the value of the item in doing so. I agree you do not owe refund, he bought it.
  22. Thank you Morita San
  23. That is really nice David. Thanks for posting it.
  24. I could be wrong. Pictures are difficult. I was basing some of my opinion on Masame hada.
  25. Looks to be a nice find. Congrats I belive that you are right and that it's traditionally made. You might want to post pics of the nakago and a pic of whole bare blade and members might be able to tell you more.
