Lindus Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Would appreciate if a member could assist in the ID of this Mon. Thanks Roy Quote
Drago Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Hm... Not a perfect match, but doesn't that look an awful lot like the Minatogawa Kikusui mon? Quote
george trotter Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 It is hard to see, but might also be this mon...kiku over the kanji "ichi" (one). Family of Tani (valley)...but remember that by the 20th century anyone could use it (I think). Regards, Quote
Lindus Posted June 17, 2012 Author Report Posted June 17, 2012 Thanks George, thats it Below is a definite Ichi character. Cheers Roy Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 Good morning Roy & George, I have heard this Kamon referred to as Hangikuni Ichino Ji. Here's a wild card: Is it a play upon shichishōhōkoku (Which if I remember Ivan Morris's "The Nobility of Failure" goes something like "though I have but one life I would give seven lives for the nation...") Cheers Quote
