Hi Rob,

Sorry for bad news but this looks like it was made yesterday in China. Don't throw away money on fakes. Buy some good books and study; then you'll know what to buy.

I put a light layer of oil on the tang to bring up the makers marks. Do you have any idea what the markings stand for?

Thanks

Rob

As Grey stated,it looks like(and was )made in China yesterday and as such has nothing to do with Japanese swords.Anything else to do with this sword would be a waste of time and space on this forum.

Rob, in case you still don't understand, the marks on the nakago (tang) don't mean ANYTHING. They are faked by some Chinese shop that wanted you to think you were getting a real Japanese blade.

You didn't. Go chop down a tree or two, & then at least you'll get something useful from that blade.

Ken,

this is bad advice. As this might be stainless steel, chopping trees (I hope you have meant wood) could be dangerous.

Sorry, Rob, old sport...
