authenticity and signature translation request

Hi, can anyone help me with authenticity and signature translation for this blade I purchased recently. Its overall length is 35.5 inches (90cm). As well as the written characters it has a very un-Japanese '13' stamped on the tang.

sorry at first glance it looks like a chinese copy and the Kanji look a bit odd !! better pics of the whole tang may be of some help, also the HI look a bit strange .

although it does not bode well I really appreciate your comments and the time you took to reply to my post. I will post some further photos of the tang as requested but it appears the writing is on the wall.....

 

As a matter of interest does anyone know what 小川歩子 means?

When you enlarge the photo of the "kanji" you can see where an earlier attempt at a signature was inscribed.

Hi Ian,

 

IF they mean anything, 小川歩子 it appears to me to be a woman's name (family name probably Ogawa, given name has multiple pronunciations). More experienced members can correct and enlighten me. Keep in mind this is very likely a fake so who knows what was being inscribed.
