werner Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Hi, I came across this one and wondered if it might be of interest for anybody: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT Jock Quote
Mark Green Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Tachi-mei, Yoshihiro. I'm sure someone will be interested. It looks like a wakizashi? Quote
Grey Doffin Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 I agree: wakizashi, but would a Hizen wakizashi be signed tachi mei? Grey Quote
leo Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Hi, if I read the measurements correctly, it looks like 83cm overall length, which would leave about 68cm nagasa, i. e. katana? Regards, Martin Quote
Grey Doffin Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Martin, From the picture with a tape measure, I get a very long wakizashi or less likely a very short katana (8 1/2 to 32 1/4" yields 23 3/4" nagasa). What's more, the border between the yasurime of the nakago and the polished blade looks unnatural, which, when paired with the reddish color of the nakago (not right for a blade from the 17th century), leads me to wonder if the yasurime and mei aren't a lot younger than they're supposed to be. $50 shipping in the US didn't thrill me either. drdata Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 To add, pics 8 and 9 look like two different kissakis. Regards Quote
ububob Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Gotta love what shows up on Ebay. Quote
Mark Green Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Someone bagged it. Could turn out to be a gem. The price was right. If it is whole. Quote
