Wickstrom Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 http://cgi.ebay.com/B017-REAL-Japanese- ... 4cf29d1290 Gimei? If it's legit I'd imagine most people would be able to overlook the flaws at this price for such a rare and valuable blade. Quote
jason_mazzy Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 nothing on that blade says rai to me Quote
Tsugio Kawakami Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 Katsuragi thought so, too, it seems. "He is a very very very famous great swordsmith. He is too too great. Therefore, I do not understand the truth or falsehood of this." Quote
christianmalterre Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 I just want to add: Do find me a Rai and i will buy it immediately!(No Joke!) This E-Bay blade is old scared Rubbish-far away from any Rai! A pitty for the guy who bought it-he´d better invest in a couple of barrel-beer  Christian Quote
Guido Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 I just want to add: Do find me a Rai and i will buy it immediately!(No Joke!)Well, that's really not very difficult, there are quite a few Rai blades around. If you mean "reasonably priced" then contact Bob Hughes: he has a TokuHo Rai Kunitsugu Katana at the moment (Ôsuriage Mumei, saw it at the DTI) which is a steal at about 1.4 million Yen. Quote
Lee Bray Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Hi Guido. I saw that Kunitsugu at Bob's stall. I think the price was 4.5 million with the handachi koshirae in shakudo that was sublime. The katana is fantastic. There was a Rai Kuniyuki tachi and a tanto as well from recollection(which could be a bit hazy as my brain has been overloaded with a large amount of very good swords. It's not often one gets to see Kotetsu, Kiyomaro, Muramasa, Kunitsugu and a host of others on the same day.) Quote
Guido Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Sorry, my mistake, I meant Kuniyasu. The one he put out the day after that is the Jûyô Kunitsugu, extremely healthy, and with a fine Tachi Koshirae that's papered as well; it is indeed priced slightly higher than the Kuniyasu. Quote

As for the ebay tanto, for 450 bucks it's not that bad after all. At least he didn't get a modern chinese fake... Quote
Wickstrom Posted November 13, 2010 Author Report Posted November 13, 2010 Are they still on business? I'm really not sure, his site was idle for almost a year and then he updated it and added several things to the for sale section around the end of June this year. I've heard some pretty mixed feedback about this seller though... Quote
Jean Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Just back from my club meeting and seen a tanto 3rd generation Yasutsugu which was full of rust when bought for 400€ and which shall be fantastic once polished (still 5 stones to go through) Quote
ububob Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 I will look forward to your photos of that blade. Quote
Jean Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 If it ever comes back to the Club... Quote
