jason_mazzy Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Perhaps we can have a beginners section, or a book list sticky with a list of what would be the best books to get in a particular order. I am sure this has been brought up before, but I have not seen, a sticky or thread that says "Hey you, yeah you. The guy wanting to buy a sword. Buy these first!" I hear alot of hey don't buy that buy a book. Perhaps if we had a list we can point to it would help everyone who doesn't have them yet. So please since I need more books, please post the top 5 basic essentials and hopefully we can get 10+ that every collector should know and have darn near memorised. I have the connosieurs, and Japan swords. I am wanting the new Paul Martin book, as I hear it covers alot from beginner to advanced. What other books if you could only have 10 nihonto books, would be the ones to have? Quote

And Lee while I enjoy sifting through these posts to find the books, it would be much easier for those with the bug to have a more definitive and updated list, that doesn't take hours of looking through one post. The second harder part of that post is not all the books are named, or are named confusingly. Most are reffered to by an author, and that is confusing for us who do not have and are not familiar with these books. I know I want more books, and just want others who are looking to have a nice list, and then maybe after an explanation of why those are the most important ones.
