Itomagoi Posted November 25, 2025 Report Posted November 25, 2025 Hello, I still have a lot to learn and I'am wondering if this is a fake. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling it's real. Even though the quality is rather low. The faded inlay isn't too bad. What do you think? 1 Quote
Exclus1ve Posted November 25, 2025 Report Posted November 25, 2025 The original iron tsuba. Just poor quality, maybe someone's initial work) 3 Quote
Jesta Posted November 26, 2025 Report Posted November 26, 2025 No red flags that I can see. Seems like it has been mounted and has plenty of wear. As you note, it is not fine quality, but no reasons to think that it is a modern fake. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 26, 2025 Report Posted November 26, 2025 The iron of this TSUBA has some ductility as we can see from the TAGANE ATO in the NAKAGO ANA, so it is not cast. The cross-hatching to fix the gold NUNOME was definitely made by hand, so, as stated above, it is not a beauty, but I think authentic. Stylistically, it has HIZEN traits for me. 2 1 Quote
Spartancrest Posted November 26, 2025 Report Posted November 26, 2025 Nanban or Hizen with two "Rain Dragons" - rain dragons generally have the split or dual tails. I have a similar style - they could only afford a single tail and didn't bother to dig out the ura side! 2 2 Quote
Itomagoi Posted November 26, 2025 Author Report Posted November 26, 2025 Thank you very much for your comments. I appreciate it. The tsuba was cheap and I take it home 😀 2 Quote
