Itomagoi Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM Hello, I still have a lot to learn and I'am wondering if this is a fake. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling it's real. Even though the quality is rather low. The faded inlay isn't too bad. What do you think? 1 Quote
Exclus1ve Posted Tuesday at 09:13 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:13 PM The original iron tsuba. Just poor quality, maybe someone's initial work) 3 Quote
Jesta Posted Wednesday at 12:08 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 12:08 AM No red flags that I can see. Seems like it has been mounted and has plenty of wear. As you note, it is not fine quality, but no reasons to think that it is a modern fake. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted Wednesday at 12:27 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 12:27 AM The iron of this TSUBA has some ductility as we can see from the TAGANE ATO in the NAKAGO ANA, so it is not cast. The cross-hatching to fix the gold NUNOME was definitely made by hand, so, as stated above, it is not a beauty, but I think authentic. Stylistically, it has HIZEN traits for me. 2 1 Quote
Spartancrest Posted Wednesday at 04:33 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:33 AM Nanban or Hizen with two "Rain Dragons" - rain dragons generally have the split or dual tails. I have a similar style - they could only afford a single tail and didn't bother to dig out the ura side! 2 2 Quote
Itomagoi Posted Wednesday at 06:41 AM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 06:41 AM Thank you very much for your comments. I appreciate it. The tsuba was cheap and I take it home 😀 1 Quote
