Yamazakura Fr Posted November 18, 2025 Report Posted November 18, 2025 (edited) Hello I have this Zunari helmet with a top fairly flat and a very short visor, it have heavy weight 1.610 kg without the shikoro. (2,150 kg with his shikoro) The plate has 2 mm thick (this deacresing toward the rear and the edges to 1-1,5mm) The koshimaki has three types of holes: 1-small ones on the edge for attaching the ukebari, 2-the traditional holes (3-1-2-1-3) for the four rivets securing the hachitsuke no ita, and the three cords securing the shinobi. 3-and four pairs of holes I soppose for cords that also secure the hachitsuke? What do you think: end of Koto or Edo period ?? Regards Edited November 18, 2025 by Yamazakura Fr Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 18, 2025 Report Posted November 18, 2025 For me it’s more Momoyama/Keichō than Edo period, but it’s just a feeling. 1 1 Quote
uwe Posted November 18, 2025 Report Posted November 18, 2025 I’m with Piers, might be an earlier piece! How is the shikoro looking? Quote
Yamazakura Fr Posted November 19, 2025 Author Report Posted November 19, 2025 Thank you for your answer. The shikoro, it's being restored because the cords need replacing. It's a classic Hineno shikoro with five blades; but I think it's mid-Edo or later. Quote
Iekatsu Posted November 20, 2025 Report Posted November 20, 2025 Nice Hachi, I agree with the others, latest Momoyama-Early Edo. Quote
