Marc BROQUIN Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 HELLO, I have given to my grandson my KAGA IYEHIRO katana which was in shirasaya and also a nice sukashi tsuba with 2 maeda mon decoration. I would like to complete the elements of tosoogu/kodogu with the same mons, at the occasion of his graduation Many thanks by advance Regards Marc Quote
Brian Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 Marc, Probably best to post a pic so that guys don't have to go Google it. Quote
Charlie C Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Have nothing to sell but I assume what Marc wanted was the following mon, 加賀梅鉢. It is used in the 前田 family and several other families in the edo era. I have never encountered any menuki with this design, except the piece on the first page of 加賀金工大鑑. Very likely you would not be able to complete the set, but there are many 加賀金工-made alternatives. To me it would make more sense if you have a set of tosogu made by the craftsmen in the same region/school instead of the same motif but made by people from different regions. Best of luck, C. C.
