Matsunoki Posted June 2, 2025 Report Posted June 2, 2025 Annoyingly 99% of Mei on kogatana blades are “tribute” and thus need to disregarded. It’s just another Japanese interesting peculiarity. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 2, 2025 Report Posted June 2, 2025 Conversely, a strange thing happened at a sword meeting about a year ago. I have a kozuka with a Sukekane Mei on the blade. I showed it to the sword Sensei, and without hesitation he said, "Yes, it's a genuine example of a Sukekane Mei". He had no doubt that it was made by (a) Bakumatsu Bizen Sukekane. Perhaps at that time there was no one faking Sukekane kozuka blades!?!? The exception proves the rule? 1 Quote
