My guess is based on Sugata and Nakago. Echizen Seki is a Shinto school.

 

All is just a guess from newbie collector

Looks closer to Shin Shinto or Meiji.

The nakago is Edo but for the rest would prefer to see images with light from a side. If light is from above, even if its just room fixture, it flattens hada and whitens hamon. There is only one very specific position above which is ok for taking pictures.

John, I think you mean Late Meiji.   His first ten years are classed as Shinshinto.

The polish is unfortunatelly an old one so its quite hard to find the photo angle to see the hada strcture..

But i will do my best!

What about mid edo around 1640-1700? And bitchu..?

The nakago, the sugata, the length tends to gendai, but without signature i don't think you or we come closer to a result. 

Only a shinsa in Japan may help, or you can bring it to Utrecht to let some experts have a look on it: https://www.japanartfair.com/program/
