stylised mei and date

hello forumites,

translation assistance on this one would be appreciated, i have tried to match the mei to every reference that i have and have had no luck except for the third and fourth character 'ju kuni'. it is a star stamped nakago with the number 154 on it.

Hi,

 

This swordsmith(Kuni-shiro 国城) was Rikugun-jumei-tosho.

 

The Mei is February 1944　(昭和十九年二月).

Tsugaru ju KUNISHIRO (Kunishiro in Tsugaru)(津軽住　国城).

Tsugaru is now Aomori refecture.

thank you very much for the translation Morita san, i am trying my best to translate before posting but this one stumped me. i do appreciate the assistance by yourself and other forumites and for the invaluable information that is to be gained from this forum and its members. i am still an infant in ninhonto but trying to educate myself as much as possible. someday i hope i can make a contribution to this forum(after much education) to assist others as you do.

You forgot to mention to Mr Morita that this sword is on Ebay...maybe in the interests of fairness you could advise the Ebay seller of this information so he can share Mr Morita's knowledge it with all the other possible Ebay bidders who are interested in this sword?

thanks George, i did fail to mention that it was on ebay, i was considering placing a bid so thats why i asked for assistance before bidding. yes in fairness i will email the seller to pass on Mr Moriata's translation so everyone has a fair go.

That katakana character before the serial number is オ O.  This is the alphabet letter O and not the number 0.  This is thought to be a prefix for Aomori Prefecture 秋田縣.

 

Edit:  This seems to be the same sword that @george trotter depicts in the post below.  It is also mentioned in several posts by him.
