Stylistically they are very similar but no 'E' or keyfret shapes

Would it be read to to bottom or right to left?

My Google search has shown me some super kimonos with a similar style

I have a couple of books on mon and I've never seen anything like this

If read top down, it could be a single kanji written in 角字 Kakuji (square, right-angled letter) font...
