Sorry about not having pictures on here. I can't figure out how to change the pixels, for some reason the pictures are to big. I have a couple great pictures of the tang. If tou send me your email i can send you the pictures through my yahoo email account. I have found some close matchs with the Richard Stein page but I really have no idea what the symbols mean. Some are close but not exactly the same. Brian I emailed the pics to you, not sure if you received them. Steve Barrow thank you for repling and i hope you receive the pics ok..

You guys are good!! So would i be way off if it might have been made during the meiji era?

If The sword was made in the 1800's does that mean they changed the handle to be more uniformed to the military? Would this Sword be from a prominant family? My grandfather said he got it from a major.

Its a good chance it was a family blade taken to war, and yes most likly in other mounts at one time.
