W K Clifford Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 this is the second blade i got. i have asked Bob Benson if this is worth any restoration work. he seems to think so (but needs hands-on examination to be sure, of course) would like to hear your thoughts....Kanefusa midare, bizen or mino? only small pictures are allowed to be posted here, otherwise a lot more can be shown in these pictures. Grey Doffin Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 From what I can see (not much), there is no reason not to send this to Bob for his appraisal and possible polish. Perhaps if you posted a picture of the mei someone could tell you more. Grey Quote
W K Clifford Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 this is a mumei piece, but ubu nakago Quote
Gunome Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hello, would like to hear your thoughts....Kanefusa midare, bizen or mino? Could you enlight us about hada, hamon and nioiguchi : nie ou nioi deki ? I am not sure, I may distinguished nagare hada on 3rd pic. Thanks Sebastien Quote
W K Clifford Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 as i said, if i could post very large pictures then a lot of the details will just speak for themselves. i am saying this because i have not mastered many of the jargons yet. anyway, the hamon is kind of Kanefusa-midare, which suggests Mino. on the hand it looks like nioi-deki and hence points to Bizen school work. the nakago also looks Bizen. here are 3 more pics Quote
Jean Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I shall go for Bizen, from the Nakago and the fact the sword is nioi deki. Perhaps Kozori (by a long shot as was saying Sherlock Holmes) Quote
Gunome Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I am probably wrong, but I should rather said mino-den Someones in mino work in nioi-deki. The gunome recalled me a mino blade I have ever saw. I know these are not a valid arguments, but just an impression. Sebastien Quote
nagamaki - Franco Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hi, one question, is the conclusion that this piece is Koto conclusive? Quote
Jacques Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hi, Hard to tell something based on this photographs, i would go on Shinto Osafune, i dont' think that blade is koto (but i can be mistaken). Quote
Guido Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I think the placement of the Mekugiana is a little odd if it's indeed Ubu - I'm more under the impression that it was shortened if the Ana is original. Quote
W K Clifford Posted October 15, 2009 Author Report Posted October 15, 2009 i am not so sure about any of these, ubu, koto, etc. thank you all for the comments. Quote
