Toryu2020 Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 Have had this tsuba for a while happened upon some oshigata of the Nidai Sukekane - I am leaning toward this being the Shodai - please enjoy any comments welcome... -t 4 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 At our NBTHK meeting the other night we had an early example where the Shodai signed 'Tomonari 56 dai mago', before he jumped to 58. That tsuba is an eye-opener. How common were these Sukekane tsuba? 1 Quote
David Flynn Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 I have a Sukekane Katana, but it doesn't have a Tsuba like that Quote
Toryu2020 Posted February 9, 2023 Author Report Posted February 9, 2023 I tell ya Piers - I don't think they were all that common though I have seen others from the group. There is enough metal in this one for two swords! -t PS If you got a copy of any oshigata from your meeting I should love to see them... Quote
Toryu2020 Posted February 9, 2023 Author Report Posted February 9, 2023 David - Don't be a tease, can you share any photos or an "Oshy" of the signature? -t 1 Quote
Toryu2020 Posted February 10, 2023 Author Report Posted February 10, 2023 Some more examples - my phone seems to do better than my brand new scanner... Quote
