Hi George,

The date is a lucky day in February in the 5th year of Keian (慶安) = 1652. I'm struggling with the mei side so I'm no help there though.

I think it could be - 薩州鹿児嶋住XX / 慶安五年二月吉日 - Sasshū Kagoshima jū XX (I can't identify last ones) / Keian 5 (1652)

I want to say 行平 Yukihira for the smith's name, but I can't find a reference for one that would fit.
