sisounek Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Hi, could anyone pls help me with this signature? I think it is original but it does not come with origami. What do you think? I would like to own this beautiful piece but not sure if genuine............ Thanks a lot. Mike p.s. Omi (no) Daijo Fujiwara Tadahiro Quote
loiner1965 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 i am not skilled enough to say yes or no but the mei looks a bit different to the oshigata i posted on one of my previous threads....sure is a nice looking piece but buying a tadahiro without origami is very risky Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Scroll down to the Tadahiro section and you will find lots to let you try and ID this sword. A pretty good site. John http://www.hizento.net/history.htm Quote

sisounek Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 Thanks again for help. I was thinking to get some decent sword for $2000, but the rule of thumb is simple: I have to pay for quality..... well got to save up more money to buy true Japanese steel with Papers. M Quote

Mike, Do not mistake : - This is a real Japanese steel sword - Gimei does not mean poor quality. It can be and is often the opposite. I have seen orikaeshi made erased from a tachi submitted to shinsa (probably attributed to a very big Soshu smith) attributed to Hasebe school. Few years ago there was a big thread (Brian can find it) about a very old blade submitted to shinsa and which was rejected as being Gimei. The mei was removed, the blade resubmitted to Shinsa and the attribution was given to the same smith. The signature was a fake, but the balde was forge by the smith ..... Quote
loiner1965 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 unfortunately he is one of the most copied smiths around....its a fine looking blade and worth the asking price if you can live with the mei Quote
Jean Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Agreed Steve compare to the price paid for some gimei or Chinese fake Quote
