Malc Posted May 19 Report Posted May 19 Greetings All. I recently purchased an over 50cm, 350 year old blade from a seller in Japan. He used ups to send it to the uk and it was last scanned by them on march 14th this year, they say it is now with customs. The seller and I are concerned as it has simply disappeared, no contact from customs at all. I asked the seller for details of his description on the customs form..... he says he described it as an 'imitation' !!! I have no idea why. Does anyone (after you have stopped laughing) have any thoughts on how I should proceed trying to locate this beautiful blade or has it been destroyed due to his description with no effort by HMRC to contact either myself or the seller. I have bought from this chap before through ebay without issue but that was a wakizashi. Arigato. Quote
Lareon Posted May 19 Author Report Posted May 19 Hi Malc. You will most likely receive communication from border force but it can take a while. It's definitely a problem that it was labelled imitation and you're going to have to go through the process with that. You're going to need any and all documentation to show that it isn't and meets the rules and regulations necessary. Then you're going to have to answer as to why it was described as imitation. The item won't be destroyed instantly. They should contact you first Ups has their own customs so you're going to need to contact them and find out what has happened. It can take a while but I've been through it before and you need to get hold of the rare UK call centre and just keep contacting over and over Quote
Alex A Posted August 1 Report Posted August 1 Barrister update. Traditionally made blades are ok. Quote
