Ffffrosty Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Hi Guys, Found this on craigslist.... I am requesting more pics, but here is the mei, can anyone please teel me anything about it? Thanks so much! Mark Quote
Ffffrosty Posted January 29, 2009 Author Report Posted January 29, 2009 Wow, so glad you guys are here! Really sucks that there is so much Chinese stuff that is being passed off as authentic. This one was listed as a pass down from a great uncle who got it during the Korean War. Yep, wrong war, but thought maybe it was a mistake. Guess that poor soldier got taken for a ride. Thanks again guys! Mark Quote
Jacques Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Hi, It's not a chinese fake, the mei reads Noshu Ju Akikane (I'm unsure for the kanji AKI). Quote
loiner1965 Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Hi, It's not a chinese fake, the mei reads Noshu Ju Akikane (I'm unsure for the kanji AKI). blade even has file marks on the tang where very few copies i know of but ready to be corrected do not Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Could that be 'Kuni' 国 'kane' 兼, although I do not know of a smith who signed this way. Listings of 国包 only. I can't find an 'Aki' kanji in that form, Jacques. John Quote
Ted Tenold Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Looks like it could be Kunihiro to me. In any event, it's a poor mei. Don't expect much from the blade. Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Ah yes Ted, I think your right. 国廣. John Oshigata Showa smith R. Stein's site. Although the 'kuni' kanji is different. Quote
Ffffrosty Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 Hi Guys, Just got some pics, although not great quality pictures. There are 2 very small nicks on the blade and another mei shot Let me know what you think. Thanks, Mark Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Looks genuine to me. KM Quote
