Gakusee Posted May 21, 2021 Report Posted May 21, 2021 Shallow notare midare with kuichigaiba 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted May 21, 2021 Report Posted May 21, 2021 Yes, & midare is almost too shallow. Hard to tell if it's carefully-controlled, or the victim of too many polishes. Have to see the blade in-hand. Boshi is midare-komi with hakikake. Quote
Toryu2020 Posted May 22, 2021 Report Posted May 22, 2021 I would be inclined to say gunome midare becoming a thin sugu-ha in the monouchi with kuichigai, Kinsuji? and Uchinoke, Komaru Boshi with long kaeri. Shintogo Kunihiro? Quote
NewB Posted May 22, 2021 Report Posted May 22, 2021 Totally uneducated guess Soshu Yukimitsu John 1 Quote
Jacques Posted May 22, 2021 Author Report Posted May 22, 2021 The purpose of this exercise is the reading of the hamon, no need to quote a swordsmith. Quote
NewB Posted May 22, 2021 Report Posted May 22, 2021 After the first 2 accurate descriptions I find it pointless to repeat the same thing but true, the question was a description of the hamon.. rookies, you know John 1 Quote

Tough to skip something in front of the eyes though right?... but because I read them I learned a new term so 👍 John Quote
Jacques Posted May 23, 2021 Author Report Posted May 23, 2021 Not a lot of daring, however, there is only knowledge to gain. Quote
Jacques Posted May 23, 2021 Author Report Posted May 23, 2021 Ok, I have to admit I wasn't expecting a lot of responses. Thanks to those who dared. Here is the description made by the NBTHK (it was a kantei sword). Words in brackets are mine. Quote Hamon : The lower half bases on a notare mixed with gunome which turns toward the tip to a hoso-suguha-chö with some ko-notare, in addition many ko-nie (not visible), kinsuji and sunagashi, also some yubashiri appear on the lower half. NewB Posted May 23, 2021 Report Posted May 23, 2021 I can't help to wonder whether the school is mentioned.. Thank you for posting John Quote
