kanemoto Posted December 8, 2020 Report Posted December 8, 2020 Hello, I have newly registered and ask for help with an Nakago Mei. The blade is 63,6cm long, sori 2,0cm. I do not know how old the blade is. In the appendix some swords from my small collection. Thanks for your help. Uwe Quote
Geraint Posted December 8, 2020 Report Posted December 8, 2020 Dear Uwe. Welcome and thank you for sharing your collection, you have some nice things.. As regards your first sword and its mei from the image all I can make out is the last two which read Hiro saku, that looks like the last two of three so the whole thing would read something like, Munehiro saku, meaning made by Munehiro. Unfortunately I cannot make out the first kanji, I am sure someone will shortly. All the best. Quote
kanemoto Posted December 8, 2020 Author Report Posted December 8, 2020 Thank you very much, i forgot to write in the text that i can read 2 characters, the first one is missing. I will take another picture. Quote
Surfson Posted December 8, 2020 Report Posted December 8, 2020 Yes, hard to read. Could it be Fuyuhiro? I agree that you have picked up some genuine items. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted December 9, 2020 Report Posted December 9, 2020 Great looking sword s n fitting good find. Perhaps Kanehiro. KANEHIRO (金広), Kanbun (寛文, 1661-1673), Hizen – “Hizen no Kuni-jū Kanehiro” (肥前国住金広) KANEHIRO (金弘), Ōei (応永, 1394-1428), Mino – “Kanehiro” (金弘), student of Kaneyuki (金行) Quote
kanemoto Posted December 9, 2020 Author Report Posted December 9, 2020 Hello, Steven, kanbun, do you think the blade is that old? The chronological classification and the recognition of the school will be a mystery to me for a long time to come. I was glad that I got the sword at an auction. Thanks Uwe Quote
Stephen Posted December 9, 2020 Report Posted December 9, 2020 The end of nakago begs us to think bizen...so i might be wrong. Yes i think it may be that old. Have any light grade paper? Place it on the kanji and take a lead pencil then do a bit of rubbing. Or dust with talc and light wipe to see what we cant see 1 Quote
