Itomagoi Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 Hello, i found a sword in type 98 Koshirae at an auction. Unfortunately the translation of the Mei is missing. Can someone help me please. Thanks. Quote
vajo Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 First shot Kanehide Saku I must look into the books for the second kanji. I would say one of the showa smiths not from the gendaito side. Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 長村兼清作 Spoiler I believe the smith is Nagamura Kanekiyo 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 Dated July 1943 with a faintly struck, double struck, Nagoya stamp. So, non-traditionally made. Quote

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the original post a tachi-mei, opposite of the oshigata below? Naga Mura Kane Kiyo Saku The pic below is an oshigata I found for the same smith. You may have a hand made blade. Do not confuse with traditional tamahagane, hand-forged and water tempered blade though. Your blade may be hand-worked mill steel that was water or oil quenched. Feel free to post more pics of the blade and mounts. 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted October 22, 2020 Author Report Posted October 22, 2020 I found the sword here: https://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=12744766 But I think it is a bit too expensive. Quote
vajo Posted October 23, 2020 Report Posted October 23, 2020 Its a normal showa-to. I see nothing what makes it special or interesting for that price. If you like it i would not pay more than 1100 EUR for it. Quote
Itomagoi Posted October 23, 2020 Author Report Posted October 23, 2020 I agree with you, Chris. Quote
