Babu Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 Does anyone have access to photographic examples from 2nd gen through to 6th gen they could share with me of the above smith signing in just this way? I only have Hawleys references. Thank you Adam by Quote
Surfson Posted September 1, 2020 Report Posted September 1, 2020 Babu, are you sure that the first character is Mune? If so, it looks atypical to me. Quote
Babu Posted September 1, 2020 Author Report Posted September 1, 2020 Hi Rob this is what's been translated. Kenji Michina thought it Munemitsu. Open to other options as I'm drawing a blank on this Smith. Quote
Gakusee Posted September 1, 2020 Report Posted September 1, 2020 Adam I think we have gone in several circles on this one. Honestly, go in with the hope of late Muromachi / early Shinto Bizen and see what happens. I do not think you will get more definitive responses here. If the shinsa thinks it is earlier, great, but the shodai Munemitsu who forged in the second half of the 15c signed rather differently. Quote
Surfson Posted September 1, 2020 Report Posted September 1, 2020 If Mishina San translates it that way, it's good enough for me! 1 Quote
